Frequently
Asked
Questions
Answers to the most common questions from procurement managers and engineers evaluating LOM as a manufacturing partner.
Ask a QuestionDo you provide NDA before sharing quotes?
Yes. We take intellectual property protection very seriously. Before reviewing any drawings or CAD files, we are happy to sign a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Simply request it when you first contact us, and our team will prepare and return the signed document within 24 hours. All files are stored on secure, access-controlled servers and never shared with third parties.
What are typical lead times for aerospace and medical parts?
For prototypes and small batches (1-50 pcs), our typical lead time is 5-10 business days for standard materials, and 7-15 days for specialty alloys like Ti-6Al-4V or Inconel. Aerospace parts requiring AS9100D documentation or medical parts requiring ISO 13485 FAI packages typically add 2-3 days for documentation preparation. Volume production (1,000+ pcs) is quoted with specific lead time commitments based on your schedule requirements.
Can you provide material test reports and inspection reports?
Absolutely. We provide full documentation packages including: Material Test Certificates (MTC) from certified mills, CMM inspection reports with GD&T callouts, First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, Certificate of Conformance (CoC), and PPAP Level 3 documentation for automotive customers. For medical orders, we also provide biocompatibility declarations and cleaning/sterilization compatibility statements. All documents are traceable to individual lot numbers.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
No -- there is no minimum order quantity. We regularly machine single prototype pieces for R&D validation, and we scale to 1,000,000+ pieces for production programs. Our flexible capacity model means the same engineering team supports your entire product lifecycle, from NPI prototyping through volume ramp and steady-state production. Setup costs for very low quantities are quoted transparently upfront.
What file formats do you accept for quoting?
We accept all major CAD and drawing formats: STEP (.stp/.step), IGES (.igs/.iges), SolidWorks (.sldprt/.sldasm), CATIA, Pro/E, AutoCAD DWG/DXF, and PDF drawings. For fastest quoting, STEP files combined with a 2D PDF drawing specifying critical tolerances and surface finish requirements are ideal. Our engineers will flag any DFM concerns within 4 business hours of receiving your files.
How do you handle shipping and customs for international orders?
We have 10+ years of international logistics experience and handle end-to-end shipping to North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. We prepare all export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and HS code classification. For time-sensitive shipments, we work with DHL, FedEx, and UPS Express. For volume orders, we coordinate sea freight with customs clearance support. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms are available on request.
